UNIFORM POLICY
School ties, crested pullovers and rugby-shirts can only be purchased from the school.
The uniform listed here is intended to give basic guidelines. As a general rule parents should avoid buying any excessively fashionable clothing for school wear and, if in any doubt, contact the school before they purchase. The fact that a particular item of clothing or jewellery is not referred to does not make it acceptable.
Basic Uniform

Skirts - plain black, reaching the knees or longer. Culottes may not be worn.

Trousers - smart, full-length, plain black. No jeans, cords, tracksuit bottoms or ski pants. Wide fashion belts are not suitable for school.

Shirts - plain white with a collar. No coloured motifs, T-shirt style tops or polo shirts. Please note – the shirt must be long enough to tuck inside the trousers or skirt.

Jumpers/sweatshirts - plain black V-neck with crest.

Ties - to be worn properly tied by all pupils and not defaced in any way.

Shoes – plain black, no trainers, high heels (2 inch maximum), open toes/sling-backs or platform shoes.

Jewellery - a watch and one pair of plain stud earrings are the only items of jewellery permitted. Other jewellery worn will be confiscated. Further body-piercing is not acceptable.

Outer coats should be plain colours. Sweatshirts, coloured jumpers or tracksuit tops are not acceptable as outer coats.

Under no circumstances may denim be worn.

Discreet make-up may be worn by senior pupils only.

No extreme haircuts or dyed hair colours are acceptable. The Headteacher retains the final judgement regarding ‘extreme’ haircuts. Shaved patterns or heads are definitely not acceptable.
Physical Education:
Years 8-11 (2009/10)

Towel, black swimsuit or swimming-trunks, swimming-cap.

Please Note:
Garments and shoes which form part of the PE uniform must not be worn as normal wear around school.
Confiscation
All mobile ‘phones, walkmen, pagers, and other non-essential items brought into school will be confiscated by staff if they disturb learning. The item will be handed to the Headteacher and kept securely in the school safe for up to 2 weeks. In the case of repeated disobedience or dangerous objects the item may be confiscated for a longer period of time and/or returned to parents only.
Jewellery which has been confiscated will be handed to the Headteacher and returned to the pupil on the Friday of the following week. Parents will be asked to personally collect jewellery if their child breaks this rule on more than 2 occasions in 1 year.
