Design and Technology Club DT Club takes place after school on a Wednesday and ends at 4.30pm. The club is run by Mr Elliott. We do various activities, such as soldering and using the laser cutter. We have already finished projects including a new electronic dice kit (on which the numbers light up), an electronic wand (which illuminates text when waved over it) and a Jitter Bug (please see photo below right).

Video Photography In Video Photography, supported by ESI, we film and edit high quality videos of school life (see details below). We use professional software and HD cameras on Windows XP Winff and the iMac to produce skilled photography videos. These have been played in the main hall at school on the large plasma screens. We are very proud of the videos we have produced so far this year and still have lots of others planned for the weeks to come! |

Stage Crew ‘The Thwarting of Baron Bolligrew’ was the first production with which we were involved in the new Drama Studio. ‘Bolligrew’ took place during the first two weeks of February. It was exciting, as it was also the first project in which many of us had taken part as stage crew. We had many varied things to do such as arranging the lighting, sound and microphones, scenery and costumes. We all had certain jobs given to us. |

Funding for our ESI clubs has now finished. This was provided by way of a government grant for which we put in a successful bid in order to promote interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects and careers through engaging pupils in after school activities.
The wide variety of clubs put in place, illustrated on these pages, has included Astronomy, Music Technology, Digital Photography plus many others. They have been very successful in terms of the number of pupils attending regularly. We are fortunate that for next year we are able to continue these clubs using Technology College Funding, so pupils will still be able to take advantage of such experiences. New Year 7 pupils will also have the opportunity to choose and participate in these activities. The Science clubs have proved particularly popular with this year group as they feature some exciting experiments that are not generally conducted in lessons. |
