Sports Day
Springfield pupils enjoyed a very successful Sports Day at the end of the summer term. The event saw many excellent performers—and performances - and, as usual, virtually all of the school participated en masse in the mini marathon.
In total, eight school records were broken, including the 1999 Year 8 boys’ long jump record, for which a new record was set by George Blades. There is now only one surviving record from last century!
Each year, an outstanding performance award is given to the best athlete on the day. This year there were many candidates including George Blades, Emma Boucher, Hema Gaur-Sharma, Katie Treacher and Taylah Sibley. However, the winner on this occasion was Robbie Sturgess in recognition of his outstanding performances in the long jump, 4 x 100m relay and in the 100m, for which he set a new school record. |
