Another Outstanding Year for Springfield Pupils
Picture Preview

Year 11 and Year 10 pupils were happy to receive their GCSE results, which, once again, exceeded their target grades and will give the Year 11 students all that they need to continue to college and ultimately successful careers.  Many teachers and parents were in school to celebrate the high achievement of the Year 11 leavers.

There has been some issues for new pupils logging on to do the Transition project on the learning platform. Please do not worry if you have not be able to do this work.  It will be covered on the first day.  Enjoy the rest of the holiday.  We look forward to meeting you soon.

Fashion Show

Following the feature in the last Springfield Bulletin, we are pleased to include (below and on the opposite page) further photos and comments from Miss Graham and the pupils involved in this very successful event.

During Textiles Club pupils have been learning more about sustainable design and becoming more aware about the impact the fashion industry has on the world.  To showcase the work that pupils had done during their after school club we decided to put on a Fashion Show.  All the year groups chose their themes and got to work in preparation for the big night.

Year 10 Focus Day - Teen Health PDF Print E-mail

Teen Health Focus Day

Year 10 pupils recently had the chance to benefit from the help of over thirty professionals on their Focus Day in June.  Each pupil had the support of various health professionals covering issues such as:  drugs, alcohol and sexual health.  They (and pupils at our feeder schools) also took part in an online health related learning questionnaire.  Local pupils from Years 2, 4, 8 and 10 have, therefore, taken part in this survey which is being facilitated by Exeter University.  The results will be fed back next academic year.

The pupils were also met and given a practice interview by one of a team of over twenty IBM employees.  Each pupil was given feedback on how well they did and this is to be kept in their Springfield Passport.  The visitors were impressed by the manners of the pupils and how well they engaged in the events of the day.  Well done to all.

Geography

“Geography’ is…  knowledge of the planet, how everything works and how it’s all inter-connected.  Geography is all about the living, breathing essence of the world we live in.  It explains the past, illuminates the present and prepares us for the future.  What could be more important than that?”  (Michael Palin 2008)

It is vitally important to understand the world around us.  Geographers question the world and seek to understand it.  No other subject at school links so many features together as one.
