Year 8 Health and Safety Focus Day

On Wednesday, 15 July, our Year 8 pupils took part in their Personal Health and Safety Focus Day, enjoying a full programme of engaging and informative workshops.

We were delighted to welcome Canine Partners back to school, where they shared the incredible work they do to help people live more independently with the support of their highly trained assistance dogs.

Representatives from National Rail and the British Transport Police delivered an important session on railway safety, highlighting the dangers of trespassing on the tracks and the serious consequences that can result from this.

Our school nurse, Mrs Evans, led a practical first aid workshop, teaching pupils how to assess a casualty, respond to someone who is choking, and apply basic bandaging techniques. Pupils also learned how to administer CPR using the British Heart Foundation's training programme.

Finally, staff delivered Hampshire Fire and Rescue's Choices and Consequences programme, which explored the dangers of fire, particularly arson, and encourages pupils to consider the impact of peer pressure when making decisions.

The day was both enjoyable and highly informative, equipping pupils with valuable knowledge and practical skills that will help them stay safe and support others in a range of situations.
