Cricket Club

We were pleased to visit the very first cricket club of this term on 23 April 2026.  Students had the first opportunity to use the Sports Hall for hard-ball cricket thanks to the new nets that have been installed.

Our school cricket club welcomes boys and girls from Years 7 to 10, offering an inclusive and encouraging environment for players of all abilities. Whether students are completely new to the sport or already experienced cricketers, there is a place for everyone. We provide both hard‑ball and soft‑ball cricket, ensuring that all students can develop their skills safely and confidently.

The school proudly fields three competitive teams: a Year 7 squad, a Year 8 squad, and a combined Year 9 and 10 team. All teams participate in local Portsmouth schools leagues, giving pupils the opportunity to represent the school, experience match play, and develop a strong sense of teamwork. Training takes place in the nets every Thursday after school, where players receive structured coaching designed to build technique, game awareness, and confidence.

Cricket offers a wide range of physical, social, and personal benefits. The sport promotes key values such as teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline, and sportsmanship. These values are embedded in every training session and match, helping pupils to grow not only as players but also as individuals. Cricket encourages strategic thinking, resilience, and communication, while also supporting physical fitness and coordination.
