Goodwood Festival of Speed STEM Trip

Thanks to the generosity of the Goodwood Education Trust, 45 Springfield Year 10 students visited the Goodwood Festival of Speed on Thursday, 9 July. 
The annual event, held at Goodwood House and grounds, offers a unique opportunity to see some of the most beautiful and historically significant cars in the world. It brings together the past, present and future of motorsport allowing visitors to get up close to some impressive vehicles. The festival features, to name but a few, car racing, supercar and class car paddocks, protype cars, car and bike stunts and an amazing Future Lab displaying next-gen robotics, quantum computing, AI, marine and space technology. We used the Future Lab as a base so that students could explore this educational STEM exhibition which helps them to see real-world application of STEM learning. 

We were able to experience the thrill of seeing cars and motorbikes racing and performing stunts (including some impressive Parkour) as well as viewing the stunning collection of supercars, classic cars and protypes. Students were able to visit the numerous exhibition stands and ask questions to the experts who showcased engineering, design and events management to students. Before we left we were delighted to watch the spectacular (and very colourful) Festival of Speed firework display set against the impressive back drop of Goodwood House.
