Leadership Course
At the end of last term, our new Senior Prefects took part in a student leadership workshop, run by Faith Mahoney from Unloc. Team-building activities encouraged them to move away from friendship groups and to see themselves as a team, working together to make Springfield the best school it can be. Later activities included workshops on public speaking and project planning. They were also lucky enough to have a guest speaker, Tom Lloyd, who brought great energy to the room as he encouraged the Senior Prefects to develop skills around networking, including listening skills, body language and debating with courtesy but conviction.
The Senior Prefects were very positive about the day:
"It was very interactive and helped me learn new skills I need as a leader."
"I enjoyed this event because I got to learn loads of new skills and how to deal with different situations. I loved that we got to interact with each other and all the tasks we got to do, and talk to new people."
"It was very helpful and advanced my knowledge about leadership. The guest speaker was very interesting and shared his wisdom."
"I learned better communication skills and how to be a confident speaker."
"It was very engaging and fun but also taught us a lot of different skills."
"It was fun to get involved with my new team I'll be working with next year."
We are very grateful to Faith, Tom and Unloc for this opportunity.
